I have a strange affection for blocky 80s cars, from the 500E to the Volvo 240. On the off chance that my petrol gallery hasn't already given it away, I'm also a pretty big Porsche enthusiast. I'm constantly looking toward the day when I can drive home in a 944 Turbo and call it mine, and am told I have an annoyingly sharp eye for 911s in traffic.
I recently had the opportunity to head out to St. Jacob's for a shoot with Randy, a local Redditor and Porsche owner. Walking in Waterloo earlier this month, my exam season blues were briefly lifted by the sight of a Guards Red Porsche 964 waiting at the intersection of King & Bridgeport. Browsing Reddit later that night, I came across a car posted on /r/Porsche that seemed awfully familiar - I messaged the poster, and once I had confirmed it was indeed him, we booked a Saturday afternoon shoot.
In addition to being a Redditor, Randy is a long-time German car aficionado. Before the Porsche, he had worked on a truly head-turning Merc W115, as well as a Corrado and Golf TDi. The Porsche is set to be a long-term fixture, though Randy admits he could be tempted to break the German streak if he had a chance at a Ferrari 308. Fair enough.
His 964 has been lowered slightly further than the RS, but rides on a set of Hybrid Air coilover lifts that enable it to navigate Kitchener's treacherous construction.
This modification is matched by a partial muffler delete, making for a dramatic stance and hearty burble. Finally, along with freshening up the clear coat, Randy has had a few components powder coated. These customizations remain quite restrained, adding some exciting flair without crossing into obnoxious or ostentatious tuner territory.
It's also very red.
Randy is on Instagram as @incrediblepants and @hybridair. You should follow him.
